Endoscopic mucosal resection for esophageal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma: a case report

چکیده
Esophageal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is a very rare disease, and the clinical characteristics have not been clearly defined. Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) has been introduced for the treatment of a variety of gastrointestinal diseases, but its therapeutic potential for MALT lymphoma remains uncertain. Here we report a case of primary esophageal MALT lymphoma. A 48-year-old man was referred to our hospital for the evaluation of an esophageal submucosal tumor (SMT) that had been detected incidentally by endoscopy. Endoscopy detected the presence of a longitudinally round and tubular shaped smooth elevated lesion in esophagus. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) also confirmed the discovery of a longitudinally growing hypoechoic mass located in the submucosal layer of the esophagus. Subsequently, he underwent EMR to remove the lesion, and the pathology of the resected specimen diagnosed the mass as primary esophageal B-cell lymphoma of MALT type. In addition, this case report may help further the current understanding on this disease.

CASE REPORT Regression of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura after endoscopic mucosal resection of gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma
Recent reports have suggested an association between Helicobacter pylori infection and both gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and thrombocytopenic purpura. Although treatments eradicating H pylori lead to regression of these diseases in some cases, the exact mechanisms are still controversial. This case report describes a patient with thrombocytopenic purpura accompanied...

BACKGROUND Colonic lymphoma is an uncommon presentation of extranodal lymphoma. Colonic mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma is a different entity from gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, and very rare. The presentation and management of colonic mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue are highly variable in the literature. CASE PRESENTATION We report the case of a 59-year-old ...

متن کاملA Case of Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma of the Sigmoid Colon Presenting as a Semipedunculated Polyp
Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas are characterized by lymphoepithelial lesions pathologically. Colonic MALT lymphomas are relatively rarer than lymphomas of the stomach or small intestine. Endoscopically, colonic MALT lymphoma frequently appears as a nonpedunculated protruding polypoid mass and/or an ulceration in the cecum and/or rectum. We report a unique case of a colonic M...

We report a case of primary esophageal low-grade B-cell lymphoma of MALT type in a 50-year-old Saudi male patient who presented to our hospital with a history of dysphagia and heartburn for more than 2 years. Endoscopy showed a large esophageal mass with an intact mucosa located in the distal esophagus, 28 cm-35 cm from the incisor teeth. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) showed a large well dem...
